Luke Mathews, co-founder of ikonix Coaching, is a British elite triathlete, a highly experienced triathlon coach and an all-round nice guy!
Based in Dubai, he is a multiple Ironman World Championship qualifier who has raced twice on the Big Island, Kona, in Hawaii. He has qualified to race again in 2020 (pushed to 2021).
Luke has also achieved multiple podiums around the world at 70.3 and full distance Ironman racing. He has earned the respect of his fellow athletes, not only for his race achievements, but for his honesty and willingness to help others.
ikonix Coaching was born out of his desire to help others achieve success through sharing his positive vibes, passion, experience and knowledge with them.
Nicknamed, ‘Boy Wonder’, he has impressed his athletes with his eternally youthful good looks, his amazing achievements on the Ironman world stage and his modesty.
In 2017, Luke was suddenly struck down by an unavoidable life-threatening illness. He almost died.
His elite physical fitness, inner strength and zest for life were important aids in his road to recovery. More importantly, the hard times revealed his true friends who, without hesitation, returned the unconditional love and support that Luke had shown them as a fellow athlete, coach and friend. This helped him through tough times and, ultimately, saved his life. Valuable life lessons were learned and Luke now looks to a brighter future.
He believes that sometimes you fall down because there is something down there that you are supposed to find. His will to survive such a devastating blow to his existence, earned him renewed admiration from the triathlon community. Luke’s near death experience cemented his determination to move forward positively in life by helping others affected by injury, rebuild their confidence and safely set their sights on their fitness goals again.
He creates realistic training plans that integrate with your daily life and has successfully coached numerous athletes to complete 70.3 and full distance Ironman competitions.
Luke’s natural honesty and integrity are central to his coaching ethos and a core pillar of ikonix Coaching. He strives to provide athlete-driven coaching which places the athlete first and foremost.
